We exist to invite, equip and reach our world for Jesus Christ
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Jamestown Presbyterian Church (JPC) is a warm and welcoming congregation. The core values of our church are:  engaging in acts of generosity and service to persons in need, offering worship that provides a meaningful experience of God in the Christian tradition, providing a caring ministry for the sick, shut-ins, the bereaved and those dealing with life stresses, providing Christian Education programs, and developing and maintaining warm and welcoming relationships towards members and newcomers.

Our vision for ministry includes growing in our faith, serving others, and fellowship. This vision is lived out through our members who are the very heart of the church and are actively engaged in various ministries and programs. We challenge each other to not only talk our faith but live it through service to others. This can be seen and felt through our intentional desire to live as a compassionate Christian community of faith. These include but are not limited to the programs offered to the youth of the church and community. JPC has been intentional in reaching out to youth across the community.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

We feel called to reach out to the world to restore, renew and empower people for the glory of God. A good example of this is our partnership with Family Services of the Piedmont where we’ve adopted 40 families. Our church has rallied around this ongoing project by engaging these families through a Family Fun Day, Food Pantry, Christmas sponsors and much more.  Another good example of how our congregation is called to reach out is by being a pioneer in Scouting BSA and sponsoring the first girl Troop in the Old North State Council. Additionally, the Joy House is an expanding outreach ministry, which is currently used for Youth Ministry, housing for those in need, and other endeavors. Our newest and perhaps most exciting project attached to the Joy House is our Community Garden that is under construction and will provide food to those in need. This is an area where we’ve shown strength, but feel we have the capacity and eagerness to accomplish more for the kingdom of God.

Recently the church has not been as strong when it comes to reaching out to the broader community.  There are various outreach programs which have been either discontinued or greatly reduced over the preceding years.  To address this, the session of JPC began to concentrate efforts to make deeper and more meaningful connections with those in need in the greater community. We have a desire to make deeper impacts to our community locally, nationally and internationally by expanding our mission efforts.
