Brief Church Mission Statement:
Following Christ together in Witness, Love, and Service.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
We are called to glorify God by loving, learning from, and following God together in Christian community.  By God’s grace, we are saved through the redeeming love of Christ, and we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.  We will proclaim this call to discipleship through our personal lives and through ministries of the church which will make the kingdom of God visible.  We will warmly embrace those who desire to share the journey.

FPC vision for ministry includes a passion for local and global mission. Our efforts to offer compassionate, accepting ministry to others ultimately strengthens our faith as our love through Christ touches the lives of our neighbors, both here and throughout our world. We host community suppers, food drives, and collect special offerings as well as providing shelter in our Room in the Inn for those left out in the cold.

Scripture-based Worship, enriched by our excellent music ministry, prepares us to serve and grow in our relationship with God and others.  Many active, joy-filled members participate in a diversity of programs and care responsibly for our church campus. Learning, praying together and sharing our gifts and talents strengthens our outreach and grows our faith. Organized Christian education through Sunday School and Bible Study is provided for all ages and enrichment programs such as College of Faith feed our intellectual and spiritual curiosities. Intergenerational focused activities help us grow as a church family.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Our mission for local service includes active and financial support for sheltering for the homeless in cold weather (Room in the Inn), for hunger and nutrition (The Corner Table and Sunday Community Suppers), and for daily needs (Eastern Catawba County Christian Ministry – ECCCM). Our support for Boy Scouts is ongoing. Our Faith in Action events assist in both local and international needs. Congregational spiritual needs are met by many volunteers in our Care Team, Bereavement Meal Team and Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Our mission to address domestic and international needs expands our community through active partnership with Iglesia El Redentor in Guatemala and support of Presbyterian Disaster Relief. Our youth actively serve in local and regional mission experiences in inner city programs both in North Carolina (Raleigh Youth Mission, service projects throughout Appalachia) and in Washington D.C.

We willingly and actively promote diversity in our community and our church and strive to accept all as children of God. Our Room in the Inn and Sunday Community Supper develop ties with those with needs in our community. We seek to expand opportunities to revitalize our family and youth involvement. We feel called to continue our strong commitment to missions and grow our service to others.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

Our new pastor, called by God, will lead our active congregation in renewing and expanding our commitment to worship and spiritual growth. The pastor will be able to draw on the many talents and gifts of the congregation as we live out our vision and mission goals. By providing compassionate and insightful leadership, our new pastor will guide development of spiritual gifts, discipleship, missions, and stewardship. As the needs of our community and the nation change, leadership in the development of our gifts will ensure that we successfully navigate these changes. This congregation has demonstrated that it is willing to meet challenges, champion a cause for needs in our community and in the world, and make difficult decisions when required. Insightful leadership will help us focus these issues as we move forward.
