We envision a church that:

o Church service led by the minister with music from the choir, the tone chimes, Heartstring Dulcimer group, or guest musicians

o Currently, we have in person worship which is streamed via Facebook & the church website
o Fellowship hour after Sunday church service
o Monthly fellowship luncheons
o Congregational Care Committee stays in contact with members via visits, email and cards
o Over the years we have supported various local & worldwide missions.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
WPC is in the center of Woodstock, the county seat of Shenandoah County. We are a core of multigenerational families & retirees from the DC metro area.
o Our Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, restrooms updated in 2012, are handicap accessible
o A pew in the Sanctuary was removed to make room for wheelchairs
o Sanctuary & Fellowship Hall are used on Saturday by a Latino Seventh Day Adventist Church
o New A/V system installed in 2022
o The Presbyterian Men include all worship attendees at their monthly breakfast & hold well attended Free Will Offering community dinners during the year
o Prayer Shawls ministry for those who need comfort
o The Presbyterian Preschool holds classes 5 days a week & uses the church library
o Weekly bulletins & Wellspring are mailed to shut-ins
o Personal notes are written to visitors & potential members
o We enjoy celebrating significant milestones of individual lives
o ESL, GED & Citizenship classes are held in our education wing. A large storage room was finished to accommodate their needs
o Batterers’ Intervention meets weekly in the education wing
o The Presbyterian Women collect for School Kits, Disaster Assistance, and Blankets Plus
o The congregation provides Christmas gifts & caroling to residents at a local nursing home
o The Bread of Life Food Pantry, started in 1987 by the United Methodist Church & WPC is still supported
o We support Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter, Response, CHS Outfitters & Homeless Veterans

What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
o Lead worship weekly & special dates as determined by the Session
o Serve Communion as approved by the Session, including home bound/nursing home members
o Supervise WPC staff, including but not limited to secretary, custodian, director of music.  Conduct regular monthly staff meetings. Review performance with the Personnel Committee annually or as needed
o Serve as an advisory resource member to all WPC committees
o Lead Study Groups for participants of varying ages & interest. Scheduling to be flexible
o Maintain an active presence in Shenandoah Presbytery. Encourage participation of WPC members
o Be familiar with non-WPC groups that use our facilities
o Be familiar with & willing to work with groups within our congregation, including but not limited to Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Men, Presbyterian Preschool
o Communicate with all members, regular attending visitors & prospective members via home visits & phone calls as to preference of member
o Visit home bound/nursing home members residents on a regular basis
o Be an active member of the Woodstock Ministerial Association & participate in Community worship services
o Explore working with other congregations to organize a Community Youth group. We currently participate in Community Bible School.
