Brief Church Mission Statement:
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

We are a church rooted in faith and compassion. We welcome all people and seek energetic pastoral leadership that will challenge us to be better servants to our congregation and our community. With joy and love, we are a church which reaches out to our local community and supports important services and first responders through prayer, labor, and resources.

We live out this vision through the Fellowship and Mission/Outreach Committees. Examples include: Vacation Bible School, participation in the Christmas Parade, a Blood Drive, the Back-Pack Program for a local elementary school, supplies for local teachers, and our Blessing Box. We also help support a missionary family through Presbytery.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Finley Memorial is a small traditional church that is focused on our families and the local community. We are in a small town where helping our neighbors or a branch of our community most always results in helping a loved one or an acquaintance of someone in our church family.

We would like to expand our presence and desire a motivated leader to help guide us in the right direction. We want to develop deeper relationships within our church and community to discover new opportunities to serve. Our hope is to find an individual who is resourceful and can creatively inspire our church family to become more involved in local outreach.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

The vision of Finley Memorial is to serve the congregation, our neighbors, and the community. The new Pastor will not only play a key role in the spiritual life of the congregation, but also fulfill the role of a community liaison. Finley’s Pastor should have a willingness to engage with other groups and organizations in the community. The Pastor should be comfortable in creating and strengthening relationships that could provide opportunities to partner and to serve. We desire a Pastor who is approachable, recognizes and encourages the gifts of others, and is willing to work with a variety of people and provide for their spiritual needs.

Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.

Our Pastor must bring the Gospel to life during sermons and interact with congregants, visitors, and the unchurched. Our Pastor must be an active listener to meet the needs of those both struggling and celebrating. A healthy balance between family and church is essential. We respond to a good sense of humor and appreciate an occasional laugh. Such leadership resonates with members of the congregation. We would like our Pastor to encourage committees to work effectively together and envision strategies for the mission of the church. Our Pastor should be a life-long learner, e.g. attend conferences, connect with Pastors in other area churches, reflect upon the word of God, and pray regularly. Our hope is to be encouraged to continue our call as children of God. We’d like our Pastor to be flexible to changes in our community. Finally, our Pastor should have a heart for all people.
