We believe we are called to live peacefully with one another, to respect one another and to love and serve the Lord.  We will spread the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, music, prayer, fellowship, and outreach, leading Bethel in the building of God’s kingdom.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
We are a tight knit community and we care for our neighbors in the church, the community, and around the world.
In the Church:
The congregation enjoys frequent religious and fellowship activities and care-giving. We provide transportation for non-drivers and communicate congregational news and needs by email, our website, and Facebook.
In the Community:
Our community, established and experiencing moderate growth, includes a broad mix of families and individuals with different needs, interests and abilities. We see a need for spiritual growth and fellowship for all ages, as well as support for the needy.
We collaborate with local churches and enjoy frequent fellowship with the many friends of Bethel and friends of its members. Through our Men’s, Women’s, Youth, Social, and Scouting activities, we get to know our neighbors, interact with them and show them Bethel’s hospitality. We actively support Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, Young Life, college students (communications and Student Loans), local service organizations, and those needy neighbors who are aided through our charities.
Around the World:
We have fielded mission teams to build homes in Baja Mexico for several consecutive years, and we support missionaries in Ethiopia. We provide assistance for Appalachian and local habitat projects. Some of the programs in place which respond to needs are listed in item1 above.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
While we have strong leadership, our congregation is in need of Interim Pastoral leadership as we make course corrections to rebuild energy and satisfaction with the church and to improve our participation in the modern world.
After a challenging period and difficult adjustments, we are recovering the interest and commitment of members, many of  whom have been on the fence regarding their membership.
We desire an Interim Pastor to actively guide and assist in renewing and energizing our programs and membership while broadening our perspectives. We would like our pastor to lead worship, provide pastoral care, and be a spiritual and social leader in the congregation and community.
Some ideas from the congregation for renewal include changes that might:
  • Attract families and youth
  • Reach new people
  • Increase opportunities for Christian education and spiritual formation
  • Strengthen pastoral response to those in need
  • Increase involvement, hospitality, morale, engagement in education, readiness for ministry
  • We are adding to our music staff to enhance our music program
