Brief Church Mission Statement:
Keyser Presbyterian Church opens its doors to the community to promote the word of the gospel, be faithful servants of God, to nurture, love and to encourage one another to become fully devoted followers of Christ.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
The people of Keyser Presbyterian Church are called to serve God and to reach out to the community by using our gifts and talents to promote the great news of God’s love through worship, education, and service.  We live our vision through the body of Christ by:
  • nurturing and caring for each other as God has cared for us,
  • growing in our knowledge of the scriptures,
  • providing support and love for each other as a church family,
  • openly inviting those outside our church family to grow with us spiritually,
  • serving our Lord as we serve those in our church, our community, and our world, and
  • living our lives with the faith of God’s blessing and promise of eternal life.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Our church has considerable potential to care for countless emerging needs in our community. Close to our church is Potomac State College of West Virginia University which we consider to be a great emerging need.  This close proximity provides an opportunity to build relationships with the entire college community to help revitalize the growth of our congregation.  Other emergent needs are reaching out to the local nursing homes, offering hope and friendship to the elderly and promoting the passion that we share for the Presbyterian way of life.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We will work actively with the pastor to plant the seed of ministry in our community and be worthy disciples whom God has called us to be.  Our pastor, through guidance, will help us to become a more unified, loving congregation.  We are excited about what God has planned for the future of our church community and all the possibilities He will provide for us.

Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
Our pastor will have the gifts of being joy filled, energetic, motivated, creative, eager, compassionate and will lead us to bear the fruit so we may grow.  As we move forward, we search for a pastor who has the ability to guide the congregation through the recent conflicts to become a healthier church.

What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
Our pastor will be responsible for promoting the Presbyterian way of life in the church and community, leading Bible Studies, visiting the sick and elderly, working in partnership with the session to build enthusiasm and vision, building a relationship with the college community, and leading a mid-week renewal activity.
