What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Hunger, poverty and poor health are all connected. Here at Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church, we have been involved in the ministry of helping to feed and serve the underprivileged members of our community throughout the county we live in. We annually provide supplies and children’s backpacks for the Morgan County Backpack Program for school children, beginning at the new school year and throughout the year when needed. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, our congregation adopts a needy family for each holiday, providing groceries for a healthy, bountiful Thanksgiving meal, and providing foods and Christmas gifts for another family who equally is in need at those times of year. Every month, canned goods are collected and delivered to MCEIC, Morgan County Interfaith Emergency Care, a food bank for those who are underprivileged an cannot provide for themselves or their families. Many members also participate in the Mealtime Soup Kitchen serving meals to the homeless and hungry community. Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church has also been a vessel for musical concerts, free of charge to the community, to stimulate their minds and feed their souls with meaningful classical music. Our church has a thriving Presbyterian Women’s Group which helps in supporting the Thank and Birthday offerings for missions here and abroad, and supporting our church family, young and old.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

We feel called to the needs of our community through the programs we help support in the County, and for the issues that are brought to our congregation by some of our members or others in the community who come to seek help from those of us who have the resources to help in any way we can. When we have an interim, and eventually a called minister, we hope there will be many more opportunities that we have not touched upon and be helpful wherever he Spirit calls us to serve. All the we have, all that we are, comes from you, dear God, our Creator.
