Brief Church Mission Statement:

Relying on the grace of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the Great Commission, and acknowledging the need for a personal, dynamic relationship with God, Westminster Presbyterian Church will provide opportunities for and encourage the active participation of our Congregation in an ongoing effort to proclaim God’s word and will be a fellowship where seekers are invited and equipped to become disciples.

What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) seeks to know and share Christ in our programs within our Church and beyond our walls. We provide opportunities for individual service and mission. Our vision is lived out every day through faith, fellowship, and mission. We worship regularly engaging the congregation in Christian faith and growth.

We provide a ministry of nurture and spiritual growth beginning with our Church pre-school. In accordance with the sacrament of baptism, we proclaim the word of God through our teaching, care, and love for the children.

We are a loving, welcoming congregation respectful of all members and guests. It is everyone’s job, ministers and lay people alike, to share the Good News with the whole world. We share our faith with others in loving and appropriate ways through our involvement in local, state, and international missions.

We extend comfort and support through various ministry programs into the lives of others, within our congregation and throughout our community. We respond to many needs and offer cooperative support to those in need. Our vision is proclaimed by word and by deed by our fellowship of believers.

WPC is home to a vibrant pre-school of approximately 130 children. At Westminster Pre-School, we seek to launch each child forth into a world where the love and adventure of learning never ceases, and where each is secure in the knowledge that he or she is a special child of God.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) feels called to serve the local community and abroad. The congregation represents a diversity of talent which we seek to share with others. In a congregation of over 70% with college degrees, education of children is a vital concern. WPC was instrumental in starting “Hands of Christ”, a mission project that provides school uniforms and supplies to children. The project has grown to include more than 20 churches within the Charleston Atlantic and New Harmony Presbyteries. Last year those churches collectively served more than 4,600 children in a five-county area. WPC also partners with Mary Ford Elementary School, providing support to the children, faculty, and families of a school with the lowest per capita income in the state.

Some of the other mission work is listed below:
