James Island Presbyterian Foundation's Mission is to serve the community through needed mission outreach ministries.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
We seek to serve needs within our local community. Ministries include a childcare center, after-school program, summer day camp, mission housing, Christian counseling centers, & hosting a farmer’s market. Our ministries evolve as community needs change.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
The Foundation is an outreach ministry of the James Island PC. We seek to serve real & spiritual needs of the community, as we feel Christ calls us to do.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
This position is critical to keep our ministries running efficiently and have a pulse on community needs. We rely on this individual to help steer and adjust current ministries, and suggest new or adjusted ways to serve emerging needs.
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
Managing finances & people, along with a heart for serving, is a primary skillset for this position. This person should be an astute manager, but be willing to “roll up sleeves” and help as needed.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?

Examples of tasks include
    • Work cooperatively with church staff & board of directors
    • Locate, hire and oversee a staff of professionals (instructional staff, counselors, bookkeeper)
    • Manage a monthly fiscal report, including child care tuition, counseling fees, investment income & rental fees
    • Oversee biweekly payroll; calculates personal leave time for staff
    • Oversee part-time financial staff
    • Ensure workers comp. and unemployment issues are addressed
    • Plan monthly meeting of the board of directors and write a report for presentation
    • Ensure educational programs are DSS-compliant
    • For all programs
        • Manage janitorial services
        • Manage insurance coverage
        • Approve, make purchases
    • Manage satellite offices for counseling; maintain & assure confidentiality of counseling records
    • Oversee bus operations (maintenance, drivers, insurance) for after-school program & church trips
    • Schedule mission house visits; monitor payment
    • Manage & update foundation website
    • Maintain financial records for IRS reporting
    • Provide sales reports from farmers market to Seeds of Hope management
