Brief Church Mission Statement:
We are a Christian community of Faith and caring, seeking to live our calling by God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit through worship, stewardship, education, evangelism and missions. We believe that prayer can change people, circumstances and communities.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
The vision of First Presbyterian Church comes from Micah 6:8-The Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is Just, to show constant Love and to live in Humble fellowship with our God. We seek to incorporate this scripture in our worship, mission and Christian Education programs to serve our congregation and community.

In reaching out and addressing the members and communities needs,  First Presbyterian provides and/or participates in the following activities:
Mission-utility assistance, Blessing n Bag/school food, Hens n Ham/Christmas food/gifts
Boy Scouts sponser site, Shrove Tuesday, Inter-Church Council/five uptown churches, Joint community services Thanksgiving/Easter, Anson Crisis Ministry, Fellowship Hall/Garden community usage, Cropwalk,VBS,Sunday School, Children's Christmas Music Program, HandBell/Children/Adult Choirs, Men's Community Breakfast, Visit/Christmas caroling nursing home/homebound, Combined Contatas, Relay for Life, Bible Studies and Special Offerings local and Presbytery
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
God does not call the church to sit and count, but to go out and do. As the church, we have a Biblical command to go out into the world telling God's story. God's Spirit guides us. Our response to God's love and action in our lives strengthens us. We are called to care for the sick, visit the imprisoned, feed the hungry and clothe the naked.

God calls us to gather for worship and prayer, to nuture and feed those who are the body of Christ, so that we may carry on the task of spreading the Good News. We err if we concern ourselves too deeply with our own personal salvation. We err also if we ignore our spiritual growth for we find our work in the world hollow. Without the breath of God blowing into our worship and work, our good intentions are useless.

In the midst of all times, God challenges us to plant seeds of hope so that possibilities of justice and mercy may become real. As we become more aware of God's presence and respond to God's love, we move out into the world so that others may come to know that love-not only in word but in their personal experiences.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We expect this position to help us by providing spiritual, educational and administrational leadership. We presently have 20 plus children and are interested in their growth and cultivation in Christian Discipleship. We seek guidance in our mission endeavors. Our Session desires leadership in the best use of our resourcesand operational efficiences.
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
