What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
We are called to be the light of Christ in an often dark world; to live out what God would have us do in the world. We are called to be a resource for those that would seek God. We do this through engaging and varied worship services, comprehensive music programs for all ages, Christian education for everyone, grace filled member care, fellowship opportunities throughout the week, and outreach through local, regional, state, national, and international missions.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
From the founding of Valdese by the Waldenses, WPC has endeavored to take the lead in our community in addressing the spiritual, physical, and recreational needs of our town, community, and world. Our outreach service seeks to include all age levels from our children to our older adults. We continually look at ways we can help the children of our community through various programs including the angel tree ministry, backpack ministry, and summer soccer camp. We also offer exciting programming activities for the children of our congregation and community throughout the year. Our Youth programs on Wednesday and Sunday target our own youth and those from the community who desire a safe space for Bible study and Christian fellowship. Additionally, the new playground offers a safe space for any family from our area. Mission Day serves our community by giving us the opportunity to help others with projects that are specifically targeted to assist those who are not part of our church membership. Our Community Assistance Ministry (food pantry) has a strong volunteer base and is well supported financially by our congregation. Furthermore, a number of church members volunteer in other non-profit ministries locally, nationally, and internationally. In addition to these ministries, the Missions Committee has developed a three-year partnership program of outreach, education, and support to help families move from crisis situations to a more sustainable future. |
