Brief Church Mission Statement:

Our mission: to know, love, and serve God, each other, and the world.

WE ARE WELCOMING – We love to gather together and encourage others to join us in our worship and events. No one style describes us as you will find young and elderly, neckties and jeans, traditional and contemporary.

WE ARE CARING – We are intentional about our care for each other and take to heart Jesus’ call to visit, comfort, and heal. Our caring is evident in many ways - pastoral care, prayer teams, congregational care teams and Stephen Ministers.

WE ARE DISCIPLES – We are followers of Jesus Christ. We recognize that God has endowed each of us with specific gifts, and we celebrate the gifts of others as we share our own. We have amazing artists and musicians, craftsmen and builders, and those who use their ability to listen, and care, and cook, and organize, and love.

What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Just north of Charlotte, nestled on a peninsula near the shores of Lake Norman, Unity offers programs for all ages to enhance their Christ-centered journey. Our vision is to engage through worship, education, missions, and fellowship to deepen faith and service to God.

Our two Sunday morning worship services include live online broadcast and podcast, share God’s Word through relatable sermons, creative expression in music, and other elements. The early service features talented musicians offering special music, while the second more traditional service highlights our choir.

Children, Youth and Adult Education ministries offer activities and programs to all. Unity promotes fellowship activities that strengthen and grow friendships. Unity actively supports over 40 missions both locally and internationally which encourage opportunities to spread God’s Word. Unity values its congregation in health, and comfort in God’s peace, as well as caring for our community and earth.

Unity Presbyterian church is a place where God’s grace is revealed in the hearts of our congregation.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Unity Presbyterian Church is a dynamic, growing, multigenerational church called to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the growing Denver, NC community. Within the next decade over 10,000 homes are projected to be built in many newly planned neighborhoods. In response, Unity must balance the challenges of developing opportunities for a strong base of families who have made Denver home for years with a growing retirement community as well as with the arrival of new families attracted by wonderful schools. We feel called to address this in part with the addition of staff and expansion of our programs.

Blessed with a beautiful, modern campus with state-of-the-art facilities for worship, education and fellowship, our doors are always open to the needs of the community. Our forward-looking focus can be found in our ministries: local, national, and international, which engage our members in the real work of missions. Sensitive to the financial diversity in our community, we seek opportunities to forge new relationships with members of all ages and backgrounds by developing specific projects that address on-going and emerging needs, breaking down the barriers that separate us from the love of Jesus Christ.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

Our priority is to find an associate pastor whose focus will be on youth ministry, missions, and pastoral care. This person will partner with our congregational leadership to support existing programs and motivate us to broaden our outreach in all three areas.

We seek a new staff member who has a passion and the skill set for interacting with middle and high school youth. Our ideal candidate will be one who cannot only inspire our youth but their families, encouraging a connection with the church body through the many opportunities available. This person should feel the call to develop and grow an existing youth program with innovation and excitement, encouraging and teaching our youth with the love of God at this important time of spiritual growth.

Unity has a full and diverse schedule of weekly activities which involve our members and address a multitude of needs. Participation on the Mission, Compassion Peace & Justice, and Earth Care teams, as well as being an active part of Sunday morning worship services, will provide a pastoral presence that has been challenging with a smaller staff. Unity missions currently include many local and international mission projects which are detailed at
