Brief Church Mission Statement:

As members of the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, NC, our mission is to sustain and actively participate in a vibrant community of faith based on Christian fellowship, service, and love. We worship God through prayer, proclamation, music, and scripture with depth, sincerity, and awe. We teach children, youth, and adults, through education and example, to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed; We share the goodness and love of God through our gifts, talents, and service in the world with glad and generous hearts.

What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Because we desire to hear, understand, apply, and live out the word of God as we adapt to being a 21st century church: We gather on Sundays for traditional worship at 11:00 am with extraordinary music. We experimented with an informal Sunday evening service, Selah in the summer of 2022. Christian Education opportunities for Nursery through Adult include Bible studies, book clubs, Vacation Bible School, and youth group. Mission and Outreach include:

    • Youth mission trips to the NC mountains and adult trips to Bayonnais, Haiti,
    • The transformation of our old Fellowship Hall into The Commons, a community prayer room,
    • Our most recent church wide yard sale Market for Mission which raised $20,000 for our partners in Haiti and the Commons,
    • Our Memorial Garden in downtown Concord which is open to the public and serves as a downtown green space,
    • Donations of school supplies, food, teacher gift cards, coats and sweatshirts to support the students and teachers at two local elementary schools,
    • Rise Against Hunger, an annual event to pack upwards of 15,000 meals for vulnerable populations around the world,
    • Second Course Culinary & Life Skills Center, a local non-profit that equips persons transitioning back into society after incarceration and/or rehabilitation with skills that empower them to secure employment. A recent community luncheon on our campus raised over $13,000 for Second Course. We continue to partner with them for church fellowship events,
    • And more!
