Brief Church Mission Statement:
Our mission is to minister to the needs of our community by following the teachings of Jesus through the truth of the Bible.

What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
We are a small, warm, friendly church with a passionate love for Jesus and his teachings.  We see a need for revitalization as we reignite our faith and reinvigorate our intergenerational fellowship.  By taking a hands on approach to fill the needs of our community and exempify the love of Christ, we envision a ministry that serves the needs of our youth and our senior citizens.  We provide service and intergenterational activities for various groups in the community to help achieve our vision.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
We are a conservative congregation nestled in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains.  We struggle with some of the decisions and proclimations of our denomination.  We seek to fullfill God's will through various programs that the church is supporting or has supported in the past.  We are extremely blessed with an outstanding music department and members with talents in many areas.  We have a christian education department that emphasizes the study of God's word through encouraging sermons, engaging Sunday School classes, and thought provoking Bible studies.  Our youth program is small but keeps its members connected to each other and the other generations through fun, family friendly activities and by being urged to take an active part in worship.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
Our pastor will be expected to provide leadership and encouragement, to help built enthusiasm among the church membership to join in, and be the hands and voice of Jesus in our community.  Our pastor needs to be an effective communicator, building church unity with a infectious spirit that is vibrant, visionary, and inovative.

Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
Our pastor needs to be able to keep our congregation hopeful and positive, to look at growth not as a numerical quanitity but as a spiritual quality, and to encourage the congregation to look outside the church building itself for God.  At the forefront we are looking for someone who will help us answer this question- "If you could have coffee with Jesus what would you talk about?"  We are looking for a pastor that is able to build positive and engaging relationships with members, visitors, and the community and will work to build a loving unity in the church.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
The pastor is to first and foremost to be the spiritual leader for the church, to lead our way through scripture, and further our relationship with God.  Our pastor's responsibilities would include preaching and worship leadership, provide pastorial care, moderating the session, attending committee meeting deemed vital to the operation of the church, officiating at weddings and funerals, and ministering to the congregation.  Our pastor needs to strive to be present at or participate in as many church activities as possible.
