Brief Church Mission Statement:
Croslake Presbyterian, a place to belong!  Where faith is nurtured, curiosity is encouraged, diversity is welcome, and all are loved.  "Presbyterian by traditionand ecumenical by experience."
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
Crosslake Presbyterian is a new congregation chartered in 2002.  Our congregation mission statement reflects who we have become.  We value each other by our caring and loving for one another.  The new church building reflects our vision for taking care of God's creation responsibly by using geo-thermal heat pumps, solar and wind power.  We are an award winner as one of the top churches in the country in energy efficiency and significant carbon reduction.  We have a very strong spiritual core that enjoys worshipping together, listening to nourishing sermons and partaking in monthly potlucks, men's and women's luncheons and various social activities.  The majority of our members attend our church for fellowship and community.  We value most the practical ways we care for each other in our times of need and our Deacons doa remarkable job of providing much of that care.  Music is also important to us.  Our quality music is provided by a small choir accompanied by our enthusiastic organist and choir director.  We looked forward to refocusing ourselves to expand using our internal strength as a spring board to an external ministry.  We welcome visitors with open arms to experiencea meaningful worship service together.  We are a family of diverse christian backgrounds, ecumenicalexperience, and our Presbyterian traditions are a valued part of who we are.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Crosslake Presbyterian Church caters to the retiring/retired community.  This area is known to be a vacation/retirement place, and it attracts people from not only the Twin Cities but also the immediate surrounding states.  There is an A#1 health care Trauma Center nearby.  It has been nominated as one of America's 100 Best Hospitals.  This area has commercial air service and air med helicopters.  Although we ahave a large population of retirees, itis noteworthy that a K-12 Chater school as well as a Public school are available.  A four year St. Scholastica College is 30 miles.  The arts and music festivals arewidely attended and involve severalof our members.  Presbyterian Clearwater Forest is nearby.

A number of retirees inthe community live alone, so there is an opportunity to reach out to those in need which allows us to broaden our ministry. Because of the alertness of our Deacons, this need has been addressed, and home communion has been made available for the home bound and those who are infirmed.  Educational seminars and support groups are being developed to answer this need.  We respond to one another in times of need with prayer and encouragement during difficult times.

We make available our facilities to several local groups.  A biannual Monster Sale which provides a tremendous outreach to the community with 10% of the proceeds going to Missions.  Members volunteer in more than 25-30 local organizations.  Some members knit baptismal and prayer shawls.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We support the four major offerings of the PC(USA).  Our members personally support local, national and international initiatives.  Our hope is to have a pastor who will lead and guide us to paths that will utilize our strengths for enriching the mission of Christ,s Church in the world.  This pastor would also support us in our vision of the future and help lead us with our mission goals.  Our aging members have proven that our church is sustainable.  We wish to continue to welcome new members to incorporate their experiences to further this vision.  Visitors are welcome and personally invited to fellowship after the worship sevice.  We are known as " The friendly church".

We seek a pastor who can help us identify and live out new ways of offering Christ to each other and to our community and thus attract new members to our church.
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
We seek a pastor who possesses a pleasant personality, who can relate to the needs of a retired congregation, and who is willing to make pastoral calls.  A pastor who can work with our lay leaders in crafting services that will help us worship God.  A pastor who is strong in communicating, but also skilled in listening and will manage administrative duties.  We seek a pastor who can help us envision a clear, concise path forward and who can join us in making the decision that will put us on that path.  A motivator who can get us moving in the same direction and provide us tools in order to carry out our congregations mission.

Our congregation has experienced difficulty over the last several years.  We are grieving the loss of a beloved pastor.  During the interim period, relationships within the congregation and with the pastor Presbytery were fractured. An Administrative Commission is currently in place to walk along side the Session.  Our new pastor should be knowledgeable of Presbyterian polity and possess skills in conflict mediation and building relationships.  We especially need a pastor with the ability to help us heal and forgive our unresolved issues so we may continue the vision of ministry that this congregation knows it can be again going forward.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
As sole pastor and head of church staff consisting of Church Administator, Choir Director, Organists and Custodian, each part time.  Moderator of Session and EX Officio of 10 committees.  Lead worship services.  Be involved in Presbytery.  Share in a ministry of compassion, comfort and hope in times of need, and providing crisis counseling and officiating at funerals and weddings.  Help to facilitate weekly Bible Study and other group studies such as Adult Forums.  A pastor who will administer the sacrements, make pastoral calls to those in need, and answer visitation calls.  A pastor who is knowledgeable and eager to train our Session, Deacons and committees to develope the skills necessary to lead effectively.
