What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
Founded in 1993, LPC is a congregation which, through worship, education and outreach, seeks to give witness to the love and grace of God, seen most clearly in Jesus Christ.  Several years ago, we felt called to be more intentional about becoming multi-generational, while at the same time continuing our ministry to what is largely an older congregation.  We called a Senior Pastor to lead and encourage us in this effort, and after 3 1/2 years, have been excited to add new members who are more diverse in age and who bring experience and energy.  The growth in number and vitality has presented this opportunity to add an Associate Pastor position to help us further develop ministries to all ages and to expand in the area of mission.   We seek to welcome all and believe that being involved in the life of LPC means more than Sunday worship; it includes discipleship throughout the week by giving of our time, talent and resources. Worship is foundational. Members are encouraged to grow in their faith through small groups and Bible studies, and put their faith in action by serving the community.  
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Lowcountry Presbyterian Church has incredible potential, located in the midst of a very desirable community that has, in recent years, experienced explosive growth.  Demographics of Bluffton show that there is a mix of ages, with a median age of 33, a high percentage of educated people, a mix of affluent communities as well as lower income areas.  The demographics also show a high percentage of people without a church affiliation.

Our membership is friendly and caring, with a strong commitment to sharing the Word of God.  There is support of our outreach, mission and educational programs among members.  As diverse as our members are in talent and background, we are not where we desire to be.  We recognize that all churches are facing the challenge of attracting a more diverse membership, with church attendance on the decline overall.  The continuity of our efforts is further complicated by the often transient nature of a resort area.  While our congregation has an active mission ministry, we see that more could be done to reach out in our area to people who are struggling.  We desire to create ministries to reach out to people of all ages.  This Associate Pastor position would give us more ability to achieve these goals.  We seek to be accessible so that all come to know the love of Jesus Christ.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
This position would help the congregation reach out to people of all ages by planning and implementing ministries so that all might experience God’s love. Working alongside staff, session and membership, new, innovative ministries would be established to enhance our vision and ministry goals.  The desire is that this person would draw from their past experiences within the church and beyond to bring new ideas and energy to help our congregation become more diverse, grow as Disciples of Christ, and respond to God’s call.
