What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
Santee Presbyterian Church has a church family consisting of 80 active, talented and seasoned Christians who are welcoming and caring to all that walk through our doors. Our vision for our church is to find an experienced, intellectual, compassionate minister that will bring energy to the pulpit as well as to our church mission projects. Our congregation is made up of a body of friends and neighbors that truly care about each other and we hope to have a minister that will embody that same philosophy and would want to be a part of that special relationship with the members of Santee Presbyterian. The person would definitely need to be personable and have a good sense of humor. We desire to enhance our church’s membership by bringing those that are “unchurched” into our church family as well as serving those in our community that need support both spiritually and financially.
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Santee is a diverse community that includes a sizable number of retired persons as well as a significant population of lower income people. The Robert Keathley Fund was established in memory of a member’s son and those monies are used for a variety of needs. This fund has served our homeless and transient population as well as our own members in need of assistance. We support Vance Elementary School with school supplies and Christmas wish lists for their most needy students. Locally, we have the Hebron Grace Home for women, which is a Christian based drug and alcohol rehabilitation center which we support through volunteers, monetary donations as well as supplying items for the center. These women join us several times a year for worship and for Wednesday night dinners. Our own church family includes elderly persons with significant needs and we make every effort to assist and support our members. We do this through prayer, visits (shut-ins, nursing homes and hospital) phone calls and providing meals. We also lend monetary support to a member’s grandchild that is attending Princeton Theological Seminary.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
It is our hope that the person that answers the call here at Santee Presbyterian will come with a sense of urgency and energy to lift up our congregation to do greater things. This person will continue to stoke the flames that already exist here and help us to do bigger and better things for our community, our church and our Lord. We want the person who answers this call to have the desire to be a part of us, to lead us, to worship with us, to laugh and cry with us.
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
The person called to Santee Presbyterian should be an experienced, intellectual individual with a passion for the Lord. This person will be required to have a sense of humor and compassion for others. This leader should bring an excitement to our congregation for doing the Lord’s work both within our church family as well as the Santee community. Our new leader should inspire us not only form the pulpit but from the way they lead their life from day to day. We would like a leader that is fearless, yet tactful, while being respectful and fair. This leader needs to be able to unite our congregation for one purpose, to love the Lord beyond all else.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?

We are looking for a part-time minister for this position. This time would include preparing and leading Sunday morning services as well as special services of worship including Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday. We visualize that this person would spend two half-days in the office and two days (as needed) for visitation to shut-ins, nursing homes and hospital patients. This person should have the compassion to want to be a counselor to their congregation and be available through phone and email. During the months of October-May we have monthly Wednesday night dinners that we would ask that they be an active participant. We have one adult Sunday School class as well as a weekly Bible Study that we would like to have this person consider leading during the months of September through May. This individual would need to have a good working relationship with our music director and part-time secretary.
