Brief Church Mission Statement:

Worship God, study the scripture and practice the teachings of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Jesus Christ is our model and inspiration. We strive to fulfill the greatest commandment: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart...and, love your neighbor as yourself." We reach beyond our walls, proclaim the Good News, and serve the needs of our local and global community.

Our vision is reinforced through worship, as we glorify God each Sunday and through a variety of special worship services throughout the church year. Through mission, as we share God's love in service to the world through our mission giving and volunteer activities. Through discipleship, as we nurture and share spiritual development by participation in Sunday School, Bible study, and retreats. Through fellowship, as we love and care for one another in our congregation and beyond. We enjoy each other’s company and welcome new comers to join us.

We are a congregation that extends hospitality to anyone who enters our doors and seek to exhibit the same inclusion taught by Jesus Christ.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Pisgah is a congregation which supports our members’ passions for community service and charitable activity. We come from a wide range of theological and political viewpoints yet we work together to make a positive impact in our community and beyond. Our leadership works to make space for individuals to have the opportunity to raise a particular need in our community.   We raise that need in worship to enlist those who might want to join in support of time, talent or resources.  We participate in changing the lives of those around us in activities such as the local food pantry; Meals on Wheels; Relay for Life; Project Linus; hurricane relief efforts; Mentors and Meals, an after school program for middle schoolers; Salvation Army bell-ringing; Life Adventure Center; Hope Lodge meals; sponsoring immigrant families through Kentucky Refuge Ministries; and funding groups of children in Africa through ZOE.   ZOE is an international development organization working through local leaders in seven countries to empower vulnerable children to move beyond charity

Our church realizes that our surrounding community is ever changing. There is population growth, changing demographics, and the need to reach out to parents and young people. Our new pastor can help us continue to identify these emerging trends and guide us as we respond.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

Worship God: our pastor needs to possess a good biblical understanding and challenge us in our Christian growth with sermons in our traditional worship service.

Study the scriptures: we wish to be inspired and continue to seek deeper understanding through Kerygma's Bible study, adult and Sunday School, Pisgah Academy Day, and retreats.

Practice the teachings of Jesus, our Lord and Savior: we expect our pastor to be a dynamic partner with the congregation and lead us by example, informing us of emerging needs, calling us to mission, teaching us servant/leader skills, and challenging us to go beyond our comfort zone.

This position will help to ensure our children are enriched by Sunday school, youth group, and Bible Camp, but also will take the time to have fun. We want to find ways to grow that will enhance our historic setting and celebrate the long history of faith in our corner of Woodford County.   We all share the excitement of discovering where the Holy Spirit and our next pastor will lead us.

Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
We are looking for a solo pastor for our church which is located in a pastoral setting and has a diverse and well-educated congregation. We desire a pastor whose love of God and love for people is evident. We look for an engaging leader who is a good listener, a wise teacher, and a partner in ministry who is flexible enough to encourage and accept new challenges. We are looking for a leader who will help us grow into the potential God has for us, numerically, spiritually and in mission.  We seek a gifted preacher with a strong knowledge of scripture. We are looking for a pastor with compassion and warmth, eager to roll up his or her sleeves and work with us as we continue to learn, grow and serve. Our next pastor will recognize and call upon the gifts of others to complete the needed tasks instead of working alone. We hope our next pastor will be a person who enjoys the full scope of ministry, embraces all ages and conditions of life, is confident and energetic, has a sense of humor, and is full of joy and child-like wonder!
