Brief Church Mission Statement:
God calls us to strengthen out faith while we share with others the transforming power and love of Jesus Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
Our mission statement is lived out through the following:
Worship We gather weekly and for special occasions to connect with God and fellow Christians on a shared faith journey to grow our faith and serve others.
Education This strengthens us to mature into faithful Christian disciples through Bible studies, devotional reading and prayer time. By providing study opportunities for children, youth and adults as needed.
Fellowship-Member Care Deacons and the minister visit homebound members and those in the hopsital. Holiday greetings are sent to those who cannot attend services. Through social times we strengthen the bonds of friendship and welcome new members.
Mission As a faith community united in Christ we are personally involved in local missions through hands on activity in the congregation, support for national mission initiatives in special offerings, participation in the local food bank (ECHO), Bike and Build (Habitat for Humanity), and our own paper pantry as well as delivering Meals on Wheels. We also support mission workers in Belgium.
Outreach Following Jesus' "Great Commission" we reach out to our neighbors and spread the Good News by using media to promote FPC ministry and missions. Updating out website and encouraging our members to share life with friends and neighbors.
Our traditional form of worship, our relationships with each others and our sense of community are important to us.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Our church recognizes the "Great Ends of the Church." Because of this recognition, we attempt, through the power of the Holy Spirit to make ourselves aware of the needs within our community. This requires us to be alert to opportunities to interact with neighbors and to be of service as needed. In addition to the activities identified in the answer to question 1, our church is part of the Crop Walk program. We collect winter clothing by using a "mitten tree." These are given to needed school children. We provide Christmas gifts to several local families. We have made changes witha respect to the COVID19 pandemic. These include worship capacity, use of sanitizer, aentrance procedures, social distancing, masks, discontinued use of hymnals and not passing the offering plate, additional sanitizing by the custodian, and communion procedures.
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We have worked extensively to develop a vision and goals but we need a leader to energize us to realize these goals. We need assistance prioritizing within the vision and a guide who enables us to make changes that attract new members, including families with children, and incorporate them into the life of the church. As we entered this period of transition to a new pastor, we participated in a professional congregational assessment. This assessment confirmed that we are theologically conservative with a willingness and flexibility to make changes in our worship and programs to achieve our goals.
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
The congregation favors a pastor who has skills at delivering sermons that are relevant and inspiring, with substance, clarity and humor. He/she must be "down to Earth" and able to personally relate to and respect all walks of life and ages. Our pastor must be able to see existing and potential talents and gifts in our members and motivate us to actively participate in the life of the church. We value a calm, confident, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
The pastor will be responsible for:
Worship - Planning and leading services with the assistance of lay leaders.
Pastoral Care - Visiting homebound and those in the hospital, with deacon support.
Outreach - Planning and guiding the congregation in reaching the community with the Gospel and working with the session to fulfill our vision and mission statement.
We need more than just a great preacher. We need a leader to keep our vision moving. An energizer for the purpose of church building.
