First Presbyterian Church is a community of Christian faith where each person is welcomed as a unique child of God. We want to call a Pastor to lead us in fulfilling our call as God’s people. We seek a Pastor who can guide us through the journey of discovering God’s next call for us.
At First Presbyterian we live out this vision individually and through organized events, such as:
- Sunday worship that is scripturally sound and personally motivating sermons.
- Christian Education – children through adult
- Active Elders & Deacons with many years experience
- Active Presbyterian Women (PW) including monthly Circle meetings as well as state gatherings
Outreach – Local mission events including Backpack Program and Nutrition Volunteers. |
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
First Presbyterian Church is an active member of the local Ministerial Association providing multiple outreach services throughout local communities. Activities include volunteering at the Food Pantry, serving as Nutrition Volunteers via Senior Citizen Centers as well as participating in the annual community Vacation Bible School programs. In addition, we have had local representation at the Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We have identified a need for a spiritually grounded pastor with a passionate love of Jesus and knowledge of His word who will help us grow in the Lord and be a personal example of the journey with Christ to inspire this healthy congregation to overflow with love to our neighbors. Dynamic preaching and worship leadership to educate and inspire the congregation and appeal to new visitors. A warm and relational pastor who leads with humility, humor and strength.

Possess spiritual maturity by demonstrating a strong personal relationship with Christ and has a passion for all to know His love. We want our pastor to be full of love for others, to be easily approachable and to have a sense of humor, and to be comfortable with all age groups.

What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
- Sunday worship
- Institute Communion to the congregation and the home bound
- Hospital and home bound visitation
- Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms and confirmation
- Presence for the youth of the congregation
- Challenge congregation to use energies and talents
- Be visible in the community

Parker, SD has a population just over 1000 and is located just 30 minutes southwest of Sioux Falls. Parker is home to the “4 Best Days of Summer” with the Turner County Fair which was established in 1880.
