We envision a strong, growing congregation led by an enthusiastic and perceptive pastor with strong leadership skills who will "feed the sheep" through meaningful and uplifting worship. We seek to grow in Christ and know His will for the church and to serve Him through fellowship and mission support, both local and global. We, the congregation, strive to support the growth of existing Christian Education programs for all ages, as well as the needs of our elderly and shut- ins, and are called to welcome people to faith.
Currently this vision is being lived out with the involvement of our members doing the work of the church such as:
-Members support through volunteerism
-Elders/Deacons role in ministry and mission
-Weekly bulletins, prayer lists and announcements
-Meeting special needs as they arise |
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
As members of the Presbyterian Church USA, we are called to serve in whatever capacity God leads us. Our duties are to remain faithful in the continuation of the following:
a. Food pantry
b. Fellowships - potlucks and Cookie Sundays
c. Men's breakfast/Women's luncheons
d. Easter Breakfast/Thanksgiving dinner
e. Annual rummage and bake sale
f. Support of deployed military members
g. Support of local Safe House
h. Support of local Police and Fire personnel
i. Teaching members American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and AEDs (defibrillation)
j. We also seek to expand into future services in youth and camping programs |
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We look forward to new leadership that will continue to facilitate new program enthusiasm and promote new growth. The person that fills this position will work WITH our congregation to strengthen and develop fully our talents and attributes. We were once asked "Who are the ministers of this Church:" The answer is "We are ALL ministers of this Church" and look forward to leadership that will raise our level of ministry. |

What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
To maintain/build upon areas established by previous pastor such as:
a. Becoming a more prayerful congregation
b. To inspire Bible reading, projects such as reading the Bible in one year
c. Continuing Educaiton for Elders and Deacons
d. To revive youth programs (youth groups, camping opportunities)
e. Regular visits to all members of the congregation
In addition to regular pastoral duties:
-Bible Study
-Member of Mitchell Ministerial Association
-Nursing Home and hospital visitations
-Serve communion to shut ins
-Prayer rotation for city council meetings
-Participate in Presbytery activities
-Technological skills - use social media and equipment
