How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

The Mission Statement of Market Street Presbyterian Church is an action statement that
motivates the congregation. We are a people who not only experience God in worship, but believe
deeply in mission. The actions of the congregation in responding to the needs of others are what
gives a framework to the needs of others. A core group of members who have a passion for mission
leads our congregation in outreach projects. Through volunteers we support 14 different mission
projects locally. We also provide space for 68 Head Start students each day. We also have members
who read to Head Start students each week. Two houses owned by the church have recently been
provided to Family Promise Ministries to use as facilities to house families and single men. These
families and single men have gone through training through Family Promise and are ready to start
living on their own again, under supervision. These are just a few of the outreach programs our
congregation provides to the community. The love of Christ goes deep into the heart of our members
and is reflected in our outreach activities. The church and our missions are open to all. We know
that God is always with us as we strive to do what God wants us to do.
