What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
Our vision for ministry is one of discipleship in leading believers to a stronger spiritual growth in their faith through the teaching of the Biblical Scriptures, which we believe are inspired by God (II Timothy 3:16). Our vision is lived out by sharing the gospel of Salvation each Sunday in worship, ministering to the needs of our congregation, and reaching out to others in acts of compassion in a visible role of leadership in our greater community. Our church is a place where people come to worship, are welcomed and their talents are appreciated and encouraged. The members of the congregation play significant roles in the weekly services by participating in the choir, reading from the Bible and taking leadership in prayer. All are asked and encouraged to have an opportunity to take part in the services in a cooperative effort. |
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Our mission priority is to provide a church setting that is inviting to all to accept the saving grace of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship and support. The church is a community unto itself, but is also part of the local community. We encourage our members to become involved with addressing the needs of our constituency through financial support, participating in worship, prayer, visitation of those who are in need, and giving to the food shelf and the discretionary fund for assistance to families or churches that are experiencing a time of crisis.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
The position of pastor in our church is described as a shepherd guiding the membership, a person who is getting to know us and is becoming a leading figurehead in the community that provides pastoral care, weekly worship and Christian Education for children and adults. The pastor’s work will include the administration of the church programs and ministering to both human and spiritual needs of the church and community. |
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
We are looking or a pastor who is compassionate to others while preaching a clear and consistent message from the Word of God that expresses the importance of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal Savior. The pastor should have spiritual maturity, the ability to communicate clearly and to bring people together ins collaborative effort to serve the church faithfully and administer its programs. The pastor should be comfortable in a rural community and willing to get to know us. |
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
Responsibilities for a part time pastor (~15 hours per week) in our church include preaching at Sunday morning worship services, visiting the sick and distressed, and partnering with the session to lead the church at monthly session meetings. The pastor will also provide guidance and oversight for our educational programs: Bible Study, Sunday School, and Youth Group. Because we are seeking a part time pastor, it is especially important that a new candidate for pastor understand that the responsibilities of the church are shared by the membership now, and we will continue to share and delegate the work of the church between pastor and congregation in the future. |
