What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
We want a faith-based ministry that will help us grow in our faith. We want someone enthusiastic, energetic, and who will help our church family to grow both spiritually and to bring in new members. We currently live out this vision by extending our Sunday school youth program to those who are not currently members and some of those families have joined our church family. Our members care deeply for the church and want to continue to grow in the community. |
How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?
Our Deacons have been great at reaching out to those who are going through hard times by bringing meals and sending cards to those going through medical issues. We also participate in the backpack program which supplies school supplies to children who are not able to afford them. We also participate in the backpack lunch program packing lunches for those who are low income children so they have food for the weekend. We are part of Common Cup Ministries, which we support by donating diapers and other items they need to help those in the community. We have a Parish nurse come to our church once a month to check blood pressure to help members keep an eye on that part of their health. |
How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We want someone who can come to care for our church and wants to help us grow and keep us united. We are looking for someone to work with us through their leadership, to keep us energized and create an inviting atmosphere both in and out of worship. |
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
Faith Presbyterian Church is looking for an energetic, compassionate, visionary pastor. We want a person who is flexible, open and welcoming, an effective communicator and someone who our members can feel comfortable bringing their problems to and talking with. We're not looking for just a pastor, we would like to find someone who we can welcome into our church family and have a long term relationship with this person. We would want this person to come to care for not only our church but for our community as well. |
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
We would ask that this person would teach Confirmation to our young people, provide pastoral care to shut-ins and members that may need a visit to help them have faith in church again after being without a pastor for a time, and help lead Bible study or other programs in the church besides Sunday morning worship. This person would have the responsibility to moderate session and attend committee meetings as needed. This person would work with the Youth Religion leader, the Director of Music and Clerk of Session closely to maintain a well run church. |
