Brief Church Mission Statement:
“Pierceton Presbyterian Church is a church family where Christ is honored and all people are loved.”  We recognize that this mission statement has shaped our ministry.

What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Our vision is to show God's love in the church, community and the world. We are an open and friendly church to our regular church attendees and visitors alike. In our small community we work with others to help provide free monthly meals and food for the town's pantry. We also host a yearly VBS program. Our preschool receives help both financially and physically with their various programs and needs. Our missions support many people in need through international, national and area charities. We send prayers, money and items to our former pianist who is now active in missionary work in Africa. To be able to expand our giving would be a wonderful thing.

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

In a small community people find out who is in need and pitch in to help. We have a manse that is rented out when not on use by the pastor. We have lowered the rent to allow one of our elementary teachers to be able to have affordable housing close to the school. We take joy in providing Christmas presents to needy families in the area. Our VBS provides a fun, safe environment for children to learn about Christ. The VBS collects for a different mission each year...animal shelter, school supplies, needs for African children. Our church helps provide scholarships for children who can't afford to attend our preschool. Most of our members also belong to civic groups where more time and money is given to help in the community. Our church is a place that people in the community know they can count on to participate in projects.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

We are looking for a pastor who not only inspires us but pushes up their sleeves and works beside us to accomplish our goals. Our church family loves being in a small town setting where everyone has a role and can use their gifts that God gave them. We hope to have a pastor that we can respect and are proud to include in our community events. There should be a feeling of completeness within our church that feels like a family member who has returned. We are currently a puzzle with a piece missing. We will encourage, assist and support in anyway necessary. We look forward to serving with our pastor to further our visions.

Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.

Our congregation is looking for a pastor who can deliver a hopeful sermon on Sunday morning that has deep roots in the word of God. A sermon that brings the message to today and how it relates to the world now. A message that inspires us to go out into the world and spread the word to others. If there is a little humor in it, all the better. We would like someone to become a part of the small community we live in and love. Who is willing to become involved in this community and uses our church members and their gifts to increase our impact in the area and world beyond. A pastor who makes decisions after strategizing and collaborating what is best for the future of the church. Someone who engages easily with old and young alike. Along with studying scripture and praying earnestly we need an administrator to lead us forward in whatever way God has chosen, being flexible to change as needed.

And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, Ephesians 4:11-12

What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
