What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Our vision for ministry is to love and care for others, to serve Christ through service to others, and to spread the gospel by words and actions. This vision is lived out through support to many in-need organizations including: WHIP, various OSF Healthcare groups, Crittenton Center, Children's Home, common Place, Heart House, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Marion Medical Mission, Friendship House, Neighborhood House, My Sister's House, Southside Mission, Women's Empowerment, Snack Pack Program, Presbyterian Home, College Scholarship Program, Center for Prevention of Abuse, Pentecost Offering, Joy Offering, Peace and Global Witness Offering, One Great Hour of Sharing Offering, international mission support and mentoring children at local elementary schools.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

We would like to take good care of all our current church members, including reaching out to members that are not attending church. Additionally, we would like to attract new members.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?
We believe changes are necessary. We are not growing and the bulk of our members are over 50 years of age, so we must create an environment that will continue to appeal to our seniors as well as to younger new families. Our community is growing and we would like to attract these new community members as well as the non-churched families already in our community.
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
Compassionate, preaching and worship leader, spiritual maturity, communicator, advisor, collaborative, strategic vision, interpersonal engagement, initiative, and flexible.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
As Pastor and leader of the church, ultimately the Pastor is accountable for all church programs and activities. However, the Pastor will be greatly supported by church staff, session members, deacons and church members.
