What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

Our church is “A Family of Faith, Praising God and Serving others.” We follow the two great commandments.

We affirm the belief in the Trinity. We believe that God can bring good out of everything; that God deals with us through love; love which brought Jesus to our world to live, die and live again.

We believe that brokenness and alienation is a part of life that we cannot escape. We affirm the doctrine of grace. God does not abandon us, but reaches out to call us, help us, inspire us, save us, and love us.

The Church is the place where we gather together for encouragement, fellowship, learning, guidance and fun. We become family together; children of God, brothers and sisters of Christ, sisters and brothers of each other.

We affirm the practice of two Sacraments: Baptism and Communion. We believe that all persons who are baptized are invited to participate in Communion.

The Bible is a guidebook for our lives, our Church, and our world and the Holy Spirit inspires us as we listen for God’s Word in our lives.

The world is created by God, and we are called to be stewards of its resources.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

We seek to bring connectedness and belonging to a faith community to others. We offer aninclusive, welcoming, and nurturing spiritual home to current and prospective members and friends, We wish to attract youth who need a spiritual base and to serve the area’s Hispanic population as part of our Mission.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

We seek an Interim Pastor who can help us revisit and refresh our identity and mission in our community and the world. We seek to be a “destination for the community” where community members can be spiritually nourished and supported. We are anxious to serve youth and to teach them Christian principles of love and inclusion. We need a strong, creative, energetic pastor who is passionate about these same issues and who can lead and inspire the congregation to do God’s work in more ways than writing a check.

Our interim pastor will be skilled in leading us in the Mission Study, someone who can spiritually guide us to discern where God is calling our church at this time.  The ideal candidate will have completed Interim Ministry training, and have served as interim pastor to multiple congregations.  The interim pastor will help us do a substantive self-evaluation and challenge us to embrace the needed changes while simultaneously permitting us to retain the church life elements that have enhanced our relationship to God.

Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.
Creative, energetic, spiritually grounded, educated, articulate, knowledgeable of change strategies, compassionate, youth and family oriented.
What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?

As a solo Pastor with a small staff, this position is responsible for all aspects of church life from weekly worship to daily operations and church administration. There is a strong Session with dedicated Elders who take on management tasks of the various commissions. Deacons assist with pastoral care of members and the congregation as a whole. The Worship Team ably coordinates weekly and special worship to support the Pastor and there is a very strong music program. Church staff are all part time or volunteers but do provide clerical, technical, financial, and maintenance support for the operation of the church, so although the Pastor is “solo”, there are strong supports in place.
