Brief Church Mission Statement:
We are a community church called to love God. Together we welcome all people to worship God, study His Word, and challenge each other to grow closer to Jesus. In friendship we pray together, celebrating the joys of life, and supporting one another during seasons of trial and sorrow. Working collectively, we care for our neighbors through local and world missions. We live by faith and work in love.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.
NPC is a suburban church in Bucks County, PA, welcoming everyone to worship God and study His Word. We are a community church called to love and serve God, with a strong focus on fellowship and outreach, serving others with love and grace. We have a firm foundation in Christ-centered teaching, with an emphasis on daily application of faith. In friendship we pray together, celebrate the joys of life, and support one another during seasons of trial and sorrow.  Working collectively, we care for our neighbors through local and world missions. We live by faith and work in love.

Our church accommodates a wide variety of perspectives, but holds fast to the central idea of salvation by grace, through faith, all to God's glory as revealed in the Bible. Our vision is to serve others with love and compassion. We share each other's joys and troubles, support each other in times of need and encourage each other in their faith. Our vision for the congregation is to grow both spiritually and in number. For our church to truly thrive, we need to attract younger members, particularly those with children.

Our congregation enjoys an active music program, and sees it as an integral part of spiritual life. The church also has a heritage of active mission programs, but they need to be revitalized. We have Christian education groups for adults, and would like to restart our youth programs as well. Every summer, the church hosts VBS, and we have an attached pre-school with more than 100 students.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Our congregation believes we are servants of Christ and are dedicated to local community missions and worldwide outreach.  We currently sponsor various activities.  These missions are as follows:
.  “Another Level” Men’s Ministry – joint gatherings with two other multiracial churches to share issues of faith and cultural development
.  Samaritan’s Purse
.  Aid For Friends
.  God’s Window – an established 25-year award winning preschool program
.  VBS
.  Various Deacon Missions
.  Boy Scouts of America – Troops and Dens
.  Missions Committee identifies local and global missions

Matthew 5:16 tells us to “let light shine before men so they see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven”.  We plan to:
.  work with local churches and organizations to reduce food insecurity in surrounding communities
.  seek new ways for surrounding communities to use our facilities to bring God’s message to groups outside our church
.  create opportunities for God’s Window preschool parents to interact with other parents
. expand use of our five acres of church grounds
.  partner with Presbytery of Philadelphia to obtain resources to move our congregation towards greater racial and ethnic diversity

We look forward to working with our minister and develop new ideas to address the emerging needs of the community.

How will this position help you to reach your vision and mission goals?

Our vision is to thrive; thrive in faith; thrive in love of one another; thrive in the grace of God’s word; thrive in congregational growth while honoring the traditions of our church. A thriving congregation will be productive in achieving God’s vision for the world and attractive to potential new members, particularly younger members that seek to join a vibrant, welcoming community that demonstrates their faith through action.  We look to our new Pastor for leadership in the following:

Preaching and Teaching God’s word—We desire preaching that connects biblical truths to current life challenges and celebrates the word through inspiring music
Outreach to Potential New Members—This challenge needs innovative thinking, developing new connections, applying focus and energy.  We have recently implemented a few ideas, but have yet to see the sparks of interest we were hoping for
Resurrecting and Developing Mission Programs—our church has a history of Mission programs locally and some further afield.  They remain among the congregation’s fondest memories but need refreshment; new ideas and programs need to be added
Nurturing and Reinforcing a Deeply Caring Congregation—A core strength of the congregation is its personal web of caring for each other.  We reach out and pray for each other deeply

We are prepared to work together and support our new pastor in attaining these goals. We realize this is a lot to ask, but it is no more than what we believe we need. Are you that person?
Provide a description of the characteristics needed by the person who is open to being called to this congregation and or organization.

Our doors are always open and everyone is welcome.  We need a Pastor with energy, ideas and enthusiasm to attract new and younger members to help us create a more thriving church.

We need a pastor who is grounded in Biblical teachings, who exhibits a deep faith with a strong theological foundation, and is connected with our real-world issues so that they may relate Christ’s words to contemporary problems.

Our Pastor will be compassionate and empathetic to the concerns of those most troubled in our neighborhoods and the broader communities.  It is important that the pastor be available to visit and pray with the sick and those in need in the congregation. We need a Pastor that brings both honesty and caring to difficult situations.  We are looking for an energetic innovator that can motivate us to make the changes that bring us from overly content to thriving.  They should be a strong listener and communicator one on one, bringing a sense of fun and humor to the daily life of our church.  We want a Pastor that can connect with young people and attract young families to the church and connect with our preschool families.  Our Pastor should be humble and willing to admit and work on her/his professional weaknesses.  The Pastor should have an appreciation of the importance of music to our services.  Finally, we need a Pastor that can be an effective manager of the Session and a small but vitally important church staff.

What specific tasks, assignments, and program areas will this person have responsibility?
  • We are pursuing a minister with genuine enthusiasm where their passion is apparent in all she/he says and does for the church, their families, and their ministries.
  • Provide leadership of our worship services, to include planning and coordinating with the Worship Committee and Music Director to provide inspirational worship services.
  • Develop strategies for growing the congregation and our Mission programs
  • Encourage and assist with a teaching ministry for both adults and youth that will enhance the spiritual growth of the congregation.
  • Develop and implement inspirational worship sermons that connect Christian truths to current life challenges. Provide the Word we need to deepen our relationship with God and each other.
  • Provide leadership to the Session, Board of Deacons, staff, and congregation in developing new programs that enable the church to grow in mission.
  • Support church committees by prayerful guidance: Session, Deacons, Music Director, Youth Director, Church Secretary, and Pre-school Committee.
  • Provide counseling and pastoral services to those in need or in crisis situations, and for premarital couples and new parents. As available, make home and hospital visits for those in need.
