Brief Church Mission Statement:
Mount Olive Presbyterian Church is a caring and family oriented church striving to become more spiritually involved.  Our mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in accordance with Ephesians 4:11-13; nurture and strengthen the spiritual lives of humankind; equip the membership with knowledge and understanding of God’s word through worship, study , prayer, music and dance; and enable our congregation to seize every opportunity to ease spiritual, social, and political hurts of all people through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What is the congregation’s or organization’s vision for ministry? Additionally describe how this vision is lived out.

“Equip the membership with knowledge and understanding of God’s word through worship, study, prayer, music and dance; and enable our congregation to seize every opportunity to ease spiritual, social, and political hurts of all people through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” (An excerpt from our Mission Statement).

To unite together as extended family to gain a greater understanding of God’s word and express that through worship, and to then spread that knowledge throughout the community and all humankind, while providing an array of opportunities to be closer to Jesus Christ.

The church’s vision is lived out through the following ways: we have a 66,000 square feet family life center through a gracious gift from the Claudia McFadden endowment and the benevolence and dedication of our congregation that we used for a summer program, vacation bible school, family night, open gym for the members and community. We are blessed with devoted a Minister of Music and drummers who avails themselves to practice and play each Sunday. We have built partnerships with area Presbyterian churches for joint fellowship services such as Watch Night, Ash Wednesday, Independence Day, Lenten, Easter Sunrise, and Thanksgiving. The church supports a variety of local and international mission opportunities through donations and financial contributions. We have regular bible study classes with our Senior Citizens and Presbyterian Women.

How do you feel called to reach out to address the emerging needs of your community or constituency?

Mount Olive Presbyterian Church rises to the need with enthusiasm of a giving spirit.  As a portion of our mission we seize the opportunity to ease the hurt of all people. Remembering Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

The Church spirit elevates to the necessity of others. We embrace the request to be a pillar of Christ to the community or constituency. Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

We strive to execute God’s instructions, though the giving of our time, finances, strengths and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Numerous programs have been established and supported to foster the needs of the community and mankind, (ex. Food Closet, support to Crisis Ministry, 10 cents per meal, Room in the Inn, etc…)

We implement Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

1 John 3:17

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
